Is hair included with my braiding services? Hair inclusion varies by service. Please review the description of your selected style when booking your appointment to see whether hair is included.

How should I prepare my hair for my appointment? Please follow the preparation instructions listed with your hair care service. If you are arriving shampooed and blow-dried, your hair should be clean, thoroughly detangled, and free of oils, grease, leave-in conditioner, and heavy products.

Do you shampoo and condition hair? Shampoo services are available with select appointments. Please review your service description and choose the appropriate add-on when booking if needed.

How long will my appointment take? Appointment times vary depending on the style, hair length, density, size, and any additional services requested. The time shown when booking is an estimate and may change.

Do I need to pay a retainer fee when booking? Certain client appointments require a retainer fee to reserve your time. Any required amount and applicable terms will be shown during the booking process.

What happens if I'm late? Please arrive on time for your appointment. Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may have their appointment canceled, and the retainer fee may be nonrefundable.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment? We ask that clients come to their appointments without additional guests. This helps us maintain a comfortable and professional environment at our Newport News hair salon.

Do you service children? We start our hair care services for children at age 6. Age requirements may vary depending on the behavior of your child. If you book an underage child or your child is in distress during an appointment, we reserve the right to discontinue service without a refund.

Can I add services when I arrive? Please select all desired add-ons when you book your hair care services. We may not be able to accommodate last-minute additions because additional time may not be available.

Can I choose which Masusu Kinks location I visit? Yes. Masusu Kinks has two Newport News locations — Jefferson Avenue and Oyster Point Road. Please ensure you select the correct location when booking your appointment.

Do you offer consultations? Yes. Consultations are recommended when you're unsure which service to book or need to discuss your hair, desired style, loc maintenance, extensions, or another customized service. All consultations are conducted over the phone via FaceTime, videos, and pictures.

Can I show my stylist an inspiration photo? Absolutely. Inspiration photos are encouraged and help your stylist understand your desired look. Exact results can vary based on your hair's length, density, texture, and condition. Please include an inspiration photo when booking your appointment.

What if my braids or style feel too tight? Tell your stylist immediately during your appointment if you experience discomfort so adjustments can be made before the service is completed.
